Clean Undistorted Notes

Valve or Tube Distorted Notes

  • Here you will find links to mp3 files containing a combination of the tonic with the 3rd, 4th and 5th notes of the scale. This time the clean sound from the guitar is distorted by a valve (tube) amplifier.

  • Equal Temperament Tuning
This mp3 shows the problem with equal temperament tuning. Note how unpleasant the first tonic-third combination is.

  • Just or Harmonic Tuning
Note how all three intervals now sound good, including the third.
