15. Local Information
Adelaide enjoys a Mediterranean climate. The climate during February is usually hot and dry. A typical day temperature during this month is 25C, and at night it is usually still warm (minimum 14C), although occasionally it can become cooler during the course of the evening. Lightweight clothing is advisable. A cardigan or lightweight jumper may be required for some evenings. Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are essential during our summer months.Public transport is quite good around Adelaide. Many beaches are close by. A close suburban beach (Glenelg) is about 20 minutes by tram/bus ride from Victoria Square, Adelaide. A trip into the Adelaide Hills and Cleland Wildlife Park is also possible by public transport.
Adelaide has many interesting places to visit within walking distance. Some, which might be of interest include Tandanya (Aboriginal Culture, Museum and artifacts), the South Australian Museum, Botanical Gardens and the Adelaide Zoo.

The timing has been chosen to coincide with some of Adelaide's best weather and the ends of both the Fringe Festival (25 Feb - 19 March 2000) and the biennial Festival of Arts (3 - 19 March, 2000), which brings an enormous wealth of performing artists to Adelaide from around the world. It is an exciting time to visit.
