A topological composite preon model.

Preon models attempt to describe quarks and leptons as composite, rather than fundamental. I will present a brief description of two notable examples, followed by a very simple model I have recently devised, in which the preons are viewed as topological objects, and the allowed composite particles and their properties follow from basic topological principles. The familiar interactions of the Standard Model can be described as cut-and-join operations.
