Relating Confinement and Topology through Calorons and Dyons
I shall discuss the general status (various approaches) to
semiclassica-like models of the QCD vacuum.
Then I will describe caloron solutions with generic asymptotic
holonomy which are proposed to replace ordinary instantons and
usual (Harrington/Shepard) calorons as "building blocks" of the
vacuum. Finally, I explain - partly by numerical experiment -
why calorons and their constituents are hoped to accomplish
confinement.
