Vacuum structure from filtering with the overlap operator
I report on recent experience of analysing different
aspects of the vacuum structure of Yang-Mills theory by means
of the overlap Dirac operator.
I shall discuss (1) the measuring of the topological
susceptibility, (2) the chiral and localization properties of
the eigenmodes, (3) the features of the topological density
with and without UV filtering including the topological
two-point function, (4) the possibility to define an UV
filtered field strength and to define approximately selfdual
domains, (5) the role of variable boundary conditions for the
Dirac operator for the spectrum and the filtered topological
charge density at finite temperature and (6) the effect of
eliminating confining defects (monopoles and vortices as
detected in the respective Abelian projections)
from the lattice configurations.
