Buckland Park spectrometer
Raw temperature displays
Please note:
- The results on this page have been obtained from a CCD spectrometer
deployed by Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in the USA. The
instrument records the spectrum of the night sky between approximately
760nm and 900nm every two minutes. This region includes a number of OH
airglow bands and the O2(atmospheric) band; the results below are
obtained from the OH(6-2) band and the O2(atmospheric) bands.
- This page displays raw temperature data which have not been
examined for validity or accuracy. For example, if the night was
cloudy the temperature reported often varys significantly from record
to record. No attempt has been made to remove such data or any
outliers.
- For the O2 and OH plots, two different temperature estimations are
shown on these graphs. The red plot shows temperatures estimated from
the height of spectral peaks, whereas the temperatures indicated in the
green plot are derived from integrated intensities.
