THE BELL
More to it than meets the ear?
by Hervey Bagot
Proprietor of Bagot Bellfoundries which has been in operation in Adelaide since 1977
- Abstract:
The concept of the cast bronze musical bell came to Europe from the East about 1000 years ago. The Eastern bell's cylindrical shape and non-harmonious tone have given way, by a mixture of serendipity and science, to the tuneful flared-shape bell that we know in the western world today. The musical and vibrational properties of the bell will be shown and discussed, in a presentation both audio-visual and practical.
